Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!!
This afternoon, the Quebec Government announced they will be giving a bail out (of sorts) to AbitibiBowater after the federal government declined to offer any assistance.
After Premier Charest let the Conservatives hang out to dry during the last election, I'm kind of happy we are letting Charest deal with his own problems. After all, before the last election, the Harper government flooded Quebec with goodies and the Quebec Premier couldn't find one complimentary thing to say about the Conservatives during the writ period.
Unfortunately, the world doesn't work that way. The AbitibiBowater situation in Quebec is akin to the GM/Chrysler situation in Ontario. By working to help GM and Chrysler and not Abitibi, Harper is not so subtly thumbing his nose at Quebec.
I am thrilled to have a government catering to Ontario for a change, but Harper is playing with fire.

Perhaps it's time for governments to stop looking at Quebec as the backbone of a majority government, and instead concentrate on winning the rest of the country over.
