Ignorance of Ottawa
It's no wonder so many Canadians dislike politicians, especially in Ottawa. Regardless of the political persuasion of the government in power, the federal government always seems to be out of touch with reality.
Minister Flaherty did not help matters yesterday by making the following statement:
"Speaking with reporters, Flaherty said auto workers being laid off by General Motors in Oshawa as of next year can always get jobs that pay just as well in the financial services sector."
I sincerely hope the Toronto Star took unfavourable liberties with their summation of Minister Flaherty's comments to reporters. To infer a lineworker at GM can simply switch careers and become an investment banker, or even a teller for that matter, is beyond ridiculous.
If he did say that, it makes me wonder if the MP for Whitby-Oshawa has ever met an autoworker.
